I forgive you.
I forgive you for not being ready.
I forgive you for the love you had for the streets; more than you did for adulthood. For fatherhood.
I forgive you for the pain that you caused my mother, and the little girl in me.
The childhood injuries that you brought upon me.
I thank you.
I thank you for not spoiling me.
I thank you for not treating me like the “little princess” that I was.
I thank you for creating one of the most hungry, independent, and loving daughters that there is.
Without you, I wouldn’t be who I am.
I apologize.
I apologize for wanting nothing to do with you as I became a teenager.
I apologize for the bitterness my mom has towards you when it comes to me.
I apologize for all of the wasted time.
I promise.
I promise to be there for you every step of the way while you’re behind bars.
I promise to speak highly of you to my future children.
I promise to never embarrass you out here.
I promise when you get back out, we’ll make up for all the missed time.
Happy Father’s Day. I appreciate you.
